Altered Landscapes
Lane Cove Gallery
9.10.25 - 01.11.25

Altered Landscapes is a group exhibition that offers a unique look into the artistic process and the power of collaborative critique. Featuring nine artists and participants from the 2023 Bushwick South Salon Series, a professional peer review program, the exhibition presents a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the creative process, sharing not only final works but also sketches, missteps, and moments of experimentation that shaped them. Facilitated by Dr. Amber Boardman and Lisa Wolf, the salon series was built upon the impactful Salons that artist Louise Bourgeois held every Sunday for over thirty years.

Friend’s artworks investigate her relationship to nature in the digital age. By using text based prompts on her computer she is able to access vast amounts of written and visual data about the natural environment. This information including worded descriptions, colours, shapes and pixels informs the sculptural works.
